AAA, Pennsylvania Officials Put New ‘No Texting’ Law On Area Billboards

CBS Philly

By Paul Kurtz

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The motorist marketing organization AAA and government officials have launched a billboard and signage campaign in support of the no-texting-while-driving law that takes effect in Pennsylvania this coming Thursday (see related story).

Dnt txt n drv. It’s the law.”

That’s the message that drivers will see at 16 locations in center city Philadelphia and a few others in the suburbs, according to AAA’s Jim Lardear.

“Twenty billboards,” he notes.  “The idea is people are in their cars. If they’re texting, we want to make them aware that this is a law and to stop doing that behavior.”

In addition to the billboards, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (Penndot) will be posting no-texting warning messages along various highways.  And the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission is unveiling no-texting signs on the Pennsylvania side of the river.
